Her name was young Katherine a very fine girl Heir to her grandfather’s fortune A friend of the king she wore diamonds and pearls But soon fell to misfortune Her parents both died, the king lost the war At 14 our lady a bride To a lord who disposed of her wealth without care A penniless rogue she’d abide I shall not be left without diamonds or pearls I shall not be left here to wither While my husband’s away I will roam the highway With a pistol and sword of silver When Thomas, her husband, he set out Katherine she donned his best raiment With her pistol and sword she turned herself about And roaming the highway she went She’d not long been roving ‘til she spied her first prize A nobleman clad in fine silver She pulled out her pistol and stared into his eyes Cried “Sir, stand and deliver!” Give me all you carry and you shall go free For know that I am no killer But if you are not true I will murder you With a pistol and sword of silver A fine highwayman our lady she made Successful in every venture No farmer nor lawman were safe from her blade For her ‘twas a wicked adventure Ralph Chaplin became her partner in crime Together they robbed without shame ‘Til one night whilst still both their prime They met their match on the plain The lawman he cried, raise your hands to the sky Brigands! Stand and deliver! Surrender to me or I will kill thee With a pistol and sword of silver ...So Katherine drew her sword and they fought... Lawman! She cried, I’ll deliver you nought And turned for to flee from the victor But as she turned around, he shot her down And Katherine fell to the ground… As she lay there dying she cursed her young rogue Who’d left her to rob in the wild And with her last breath she said unto The Lord You have killed me and my unborn child

Verse 1 As I walked out one summer's morning, To view the fields and take the air, Down by the banks of sweet primroses, There I beheld a lady fair. Verse 2 Three long steps I took up to her, Not knowing her as she passed me by; I stepped up to her thinking to view her, She was just like some virtuous bride. Verse 3 Tell me fair maiden, where are you going? What's the occasion of all your grief? I'll make you as happy as any lady, If you will grant me some small relief." Verse 4 "Stand off, stand off, you are deceitful! You are a false deluding swain! For it's you that's caused my heart to wander, To give me comfort is all in vain. Verse 5 I will go down to some lonesome valley, No man on earth shall there me find, Where pretty small birds change their voices, And every moment there blows a blusterous wind." Verse 6 So come all you young maids that go a-courting, And give attention to what I say, For there's many a dark, cloudy morning, Turns out to be a sunshiny day. Yes there's many a dark, cloudy morning, Turns out to be a sunshiny day.

I am a solitary soldier The night owl of the day A beacon burning bright To keep my love away I am a lonely child Looking through a clockwork lens Gaze lost on the horizon Searching for a long lost friend She is a restless mother (cares for all) With many a hand to lend (take my hand) She keeps my cogs turning (rest a while) Burning the candle at both ends I am a stone brick house (obstinate fool) Crumbling on a wind-lashed hill (standing tall) Stubborn pride keeps me standing (I----) And forever will (...will never fall) Waves may crash, winds may roar But I will stand here as before A stubborn rock, a flickering light To watch you closely through the night I am a solitary soldier The night owl of the day A beacon burning bright To keep my love away (Waves Crash, Winds roar But I will stand here as before)
